About the event
What a joyful afternoon we had on Sunday 27th November when Louise Crane and Ian Belsey, accompanied by Paul Showell, treated an audience of over 60 to a most entertaining mixture of songs with accompanying dialogue and acting as well as lots of amusing anecdotes. There were pieces from Iolanthe, HMS Pinafore, Patience and The Mikado but also some lovely non G and S items such as Noel Coward’s “Mrs Worthington” and “Charming Weather” from Monkton’s The Arcadians. The medley of Christmas songs played by Paul got us into a festive spirit and there was a splendid encore with “I remember it well” from Lerner and Lowe’s Gigi.
It was pleasing to see so many existing members at this event and also to have attracted new membership amongst those attending this concert as their first with the Society.
