10th Annual Lunch with Richard Gauntlett

We held a most successful annual lunch on Sunday, 20th February. Richard Gauntlett was our guest speaker and provided us with a highly entertaining account of his career through a seamless series of amusing anecdotes. While we may be most familiar with Richard through his 11 years with the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company and renowned patter role performances, we learnt about a career that has embraced Shakespearean acting, 21 years of being a pantomime dame, stunt work and performances in the Sooty Show.. We are unlikely to forget the juggling act Richard treated us to or his Heinz Beanz dress in a hurry!

Richard showed us a photo of his mother playing Iolanthe while pregnant with him and his twin brother. His parents clearly wanted to introduce Richard to the art form as early as possible!
