The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Sussex

On Sunday 9th March 2014 at 2:45pm
in the Birch Hotel
Lewes Road, Haywards Heath

We were delighted to welcome

Stephen John Davis

Stephen, a baritone, is a very fine performer, a rising star.

Still only 39, he has an impressive CV encompassing several roles for New D'Oyly Carte; the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera; Bishop of Digne in Les Miserables; Capt. Brackett and Emile de Becque in South Pacific at the Lincoln Center, New York, and at the Barbican; and an outstanding Ludwig in the professional Grand Duke at Buxton to name but a few. He had just completed a UK tour as a third of The Three Phantoms, and was Prince Charming in Cinderella at The Hawth, Crawley, over Christmas and New Year.

What a stunning concert this was! Stephen John Davis, alias The Phantom, gave us a wonderful afternoon of West End magic and sparkle, accompanied by the brilliant young pianist Timothy Evans.   What a voice!   And such artistry!   Truly an afternoon to remember for a long time.
